From the moment you approach this lovely
house, you are aware of its extraordinarily
welcoming atmosphere. Pots of well
watered green plants and agapanthus
cluster around the shady loggia, bright
bougainvillea clutches at the rough stone walls,
and the house exudes tranquility.
Inside, it is furnished as a home - the kind
of home we would all love to call our
special house in the sun. Creamy walls
and furnishings contrast with traditional
dark wood furniture and red tiled floors,
with some very fine pieces of antique
furniture - handsome grandfathers clocks,
carved chests, graceful mirrors - to set them
off. The living room is so comfortable that
it is quite an effort to leave it, but who
could resist the allure of the lovely garden
glimpsed through the French doors, with
its charming tiled pool set amidst green
lawns and shaded by palm trees? Like
a symbol of luxurious idleness, a
hammock is slung between two palm
trees at the pool's edge. The villa also has
its own orchard - a vision of blossoms in
the springtime. Outdoor cooking is provided
for on the handsome covered veranda,
where the traditional look is maintained
with sturdy local furniture and more of
those lovely potted plants. Just 1 km. from
Pollensa, Ca'n Corde is ideally situated for
exploring the island of Majorca and its beaches
and mountains.
