Built in the classic Andalucian style,
centered on a paved courtyard, cooled by a
small fountain and shaded by a large palm
tree, Don Toribo is one of three very
attractive cottages belonging to the same
owner.
The houses are located on a large estate that
includes a working farm, 5 kms. from
Gaucin. Once the original farmhouse, Don
Toribo has retained a great deal of its old
effortless charm. The rooms are furnished
simply but comfortably as befits the style of
the house and its origins, providing a very
relaxing and unfussy setting for the
enjoyment of a quiet holiday. The living
rooms are housed in one wing of the
building, and the bedrooms are in the
opposite wing - all have ceiling fans. A
delightful covered terrace leads off from the
master bedroom and sitting area, perfect for
al fresco dining, and an open terrace gives
way to the natural "rock" garden and the
swimming pool. The pool area is, in keeping
with the character of the house in general,
neither cluttered nor over-decorated - it
relies on the simple assets of shade from the
trees beside it, the restful colors of the
garden that contrast gently with the pale,
pink, stone terrace, and the gorgeous, far
reaching views. For larger parties, Don
Toribo can be combined with Las Barracas
and Cortijo de la Arailla, both located across
the road. This combination would
accommodate a party of 12 - 14 people.
