At the head of the heavenly Jimena valley, in a
mountainside estate of 50 hectares, four cottages
and a "cortijo" bask in an informal atmosphere
of rest and relaxation.
The popularity of El Puerto del Negro comes as
no surprise. Its setting is simply idyllic with
views, on a clear day, as far as North Africa's
Rif Mountains. Its layout is ideal, a little "cortijo"
(a country house hotel), with its own tennis court,
boasting one of the region's finest restaurants,
and four delightful cottages - each in its own
grounds on this exclusive estate. Attractions in
the surrounding area include local markets,
several superb coastal golf courses, and mile
upon beautiful mile of rural Andalucia to explore.
This could be the best of all possible worlds -
the comfort of a self contained cottage and the
convenience of the cortijo for a special meal and
friendly service. At lunchtime (daily except
Tuesday) the restaurant opens only for cottage
and cortijo residents. Non-residents are also
welcomed in the evenings for dinner, and the
restaurant is an adult-only reserve except for
Sunday lunchtime. There are four guest rooms
at the Cortijo (ideal should friends come out to
join you for a weekend stay).

CRISTINA
Sleeps 4
A costly rustic single storey college, Cristina
has an open plan living area with a tile floor
and high beamed ceiling, comfy sofas by a
fireplace, and a dining section by the log
burning stove and open plan kitchen. There are
two bedrooms and two bathrooms, and a
covered terrace looks across the swimming
pool to super views beyond. Real relaxation
seems to have been built in!

ISOBELLA
Sleeps 2
Isobella is a quaint cottage and ideal for
couples and honeymooners. With just one
double bedroom and a cheerful living/ dining
room with a log-burning stove, its airy and
ample accommodation includes a little outside
terrace for all fresco snacks. New for next
year will be a small pool and terrace area
behind the cottage.

In a hillside hollow below the Cortijo, this
cottage is adaptable for families large or small,
as there are two bedrooms and two bathrooms
in the main cottage, and two bedrooms, each
with en suite bathroom, in a small adjoining
annex (available at extra charge). Well
furnished and with a small pool surrounded by
shrubs and flowers, Elena makes a splendid
retreat with stunning views.

Built around a pretty central courtyard,
Eleonora boasts uninterrupted views from its
suntrap swimming pool terrace and from the
adjoining furnished terrace which is covered
for cool and shade. With two bedrooms and
two shower rooms, the cottage is equally
suited to two couples or one family and, as
the living room is open plan to the kitchen,
convivial conversation can always include
the cook!
