This magnificent 16th century
Spanish farmhouse ha a magical
setting amidst the foothills of the
Sierra Morena mountains, just
north of Seville. Surrounded by a
dramatic and unspoiled landscape,
it is quiet and peaceful, ideal for
walks, riding and picnics. Yoga,
painting, Spanish lessons,
flamenco nights and catering for
parties and other special occasions
can also be arranged. The nearby
traditional village of Cazalla de la
Sierra has several bars, restaurants
and a small train station with
connections to Seville. During the
summer, there is also a Romeria
(religious pilgrimage made by foot
and horseback) as well as several
colorful fiestas.
Once the heart of a very large olive
producing estate, the property is
entered via massive gates into a
cobbled courtyard, leading to the
carefully restored buildings. There
are several covered and uncovered
terraces filled with flowers, and
pathways leading to a walled-in
swimming pool with a shaded
seating area, or through the olive
groves to the tennis court.
The interiors are a mix of Moorish,
English and Spanish styles, with
thick white washed walls and arches
leading to the spacious rooms,
charmingly furnished with English
fabrics and many local artifacts. The
owner and her family (who help
with the daily running of Trasierra)
reside within the main gates of the
property, yet quite separately from
the guest accommodation.
